The awesome Paralegals in Canada are true pioneers of our profession and we couldn’t dream of starting a new site without including them. In that spirit we have created a group on the site just for our Canadian colleagues to gather and discuss all things Paralegal! We are also very honored to have Kim Smith of MacLeod Dixon in Calgary serving as Ambassador for this section of the site. She has kindly made herself available to assist anyone who may have questions about Paralegals in Canada.

Kim Smith is the Litigation Support Manager at MacLeod Dixon LLP in Calgary, AB. She has been with Macleod Dixon LLP for 17 years of her 20 + years in the legal field. Kim is responsible for the management of the firm’s litigation support services including the training and supervision of 10 staff members. In addition, she provides technical assistance to lawyers and clients with respect to electronic management of cases and documentation. She provides training and support directly to the litigation department, as well as liaising with IT professionals both within and outside the firm.

Kim works with legal teams, clients and adverse parties to facilitate information sharing and case presentation at mediations, discoveries, trials and appeals and has used her experience and knowledge to assist lawyer teams at all levels of the provincial and federal courts. In addition to her legal and supervisory experience, Kim has extensive knowledge and training on database management and imaging solutions and specializes in large volume litigation cases. Kim’s far-reaching knowledge and experience have led her to be a much sought after speaker at various legal education seminars and conferences.
